Tromsø, Norway (June 2011)
I have been invited by the European Broadcast Union (EBU) to speak during their Technical Assembly 2011 (speakers) about Cloud Computing in the broadcast industry (programme). There are only a limited number of flights combinations possible from Brussels to Tromsø. Consequently, I had to leave a day earlier. This allowed me to complete my presentation and to do some sightseeing around in the evening. Although, I was less then a year ago in Tromsø, this was the first time to be there early June. The surrounding area was still covered with snow. Being above the polar circle at this time of the year (there is a 24 hours daytime per day), I did not have to wait till it's dark to go to bed which allowed me to make photos even at midnight. On Friday evening I joined the conference group for the farewell event. We took the speedboat from Tromsø to Skjervøy (2 hours trip) and returned with the Hurtigruten whilst having dinner on board (4 hours trip). On Saturday I had a free morning and made a local flight before catching my flight back home. An nice experience to fly in between the fjords. |
