Las Vegas, Rhyolite, Dead Valley (April, 2011)
My second time in Las Vegas this year. This time to participate to the NAB 2011 conference. I didn't had the time to prepare the visit, mostly due to the defense of my thesis the week before my departure. Some of the fun stuff of the week: Customer lunch in Benihana, the Japanese restaurant of the Hilton hotel (next to the convention center). A visit to the Secret Garden (wild animals) and the Dolphin habitat of The Mirage hotel. A visit to the Margaritaville, a bar on The Strip, to join the Dutch evening. The last day was only half a day, right after the conference I went straight to Rhyolite city (a small ghost town north of Dead Valley). The GPS calculated the return time to Las Vegas, as I still had time I decided to cross the Daylight pass towards the Sand Dunes in Dead Valley. Afterwards I went to the Borax Works in Dead Valley and returned via Dead Valley junction to Las Vegas. I took some pictures automatically by mounting the GoPro HD camera on the outside of the car. I returned late to the hotel and prepared my next morning departure (=squeezed my luggage). |
