Day 21 – Time to let you know our winning team!

Day 21, can’t believe being away from home since three weeks. We are living and working with colleagues and interns as a small community. We are 12, coming from IBM all over the globe, permanently assisted by 7 interns for interpretation and translation and one local DOT coordinator. Furthermore we are continuously assisted by IBM staff out of the offices in Xiamen, Beijing and Armonk (US) whom take care of communication with press, solving practical issues, and taking care about our security. For the community service project the entire team worked together. For the other projects is the entire team divided into four sub-teams. I work on two projects on a daily basis together with Amit from New Delhi (India), Megan from Chicago (US), Christy from Jiangyou (China), and Cecily from Chongqing (China). After three weeks of working together I got the feeling we are going to be a winning team! I think it is time to introduce them to you: |

| Amit actively participate to the discussions about our projects, and he makes me thinking about the problem from a different perspective, which enriches the experience. I share and appreciate his pragmatic timebox approach: define the best thing we can do within the given timeframe, nail down this scope, split the work, and get it done without permanently changing the approach or the scope. He takes his fair part of the work and works independently on it. He is the diesel engine of our sub team, he keeps going and makes sure his part is delivered as agreed among us. He is great a help for researching solutions for specific problems, which we integrate in our approach and which he brings forward to the client. |

| Megan has also the pragmatic approach, and on the one hand she keeps me questioning and challenging, while on the other hand she remains calm under all circumstances. She helps me to keep moving forward and at the same time helps me to stay calm when something starts getting annoying me or makes me nervous. It is very enjoyable to work with her, sitting together in calm atmosphere working on the content of the presentations. Half a word is enough to understand each other. She is great in collecting everything together, working through translation with Cecily and Christy, and keep going over the result again and again to make sure the final result meets the expectations. She makes my days! |

| Christy is our very sociable, outgoing girl who always wears a huge smile. She is our great help in interpreting during discussions with clients. She keeps on inquiring for translation work and while translating she keeps asking questions to make sure everything is translated in the best possible way. She also helped us out several times using the phone, whenever we are stuck somewhere we reach out to her by phone to get our question translated. |
Christy |
| Cecily keeps on chatting with friends with her huge phone. She is our hard worker in translations, making sure we have it all done before going to the clients. She is also our organizer; she works on our arrangement with drivers, restaurants, whatever practical thing we want to get arranged with the local community. Next year she will return to New York, I am sure this will be a great experience for her.
